What are spending allowances and how do they work?

This article only applies to employee travel programs.

You can add spending allowances to limit the cost of rides taken and meals ordered on your organization’s Uber for Business account.

You can set a spending allowance for:

  • Individual trips/meals (e.g. $20 per trip/meal)
  • Trips taken/Meals ordered in a day (e.g. $50 per day)
  • Trips taken/Meals ordered in a month (e.g. $200 per month)

When a spending allowance is enabled, employees are asked to add a second payment method to their account. If the employee tips a driver or exceeds a spending allowance, the tip or remaining balance is charged to their personal payment method.

On voucher programs, you can set a per-trip spending limit when creating a campaign.
